Eczema

🌿 Let’s Talk About Eczema – Beyond Just Dry Skin! Hello everyone! I’m Dr. Subha 🌸 Today, let’s explore something that many silently suffer with — Eczema. It’s more than “just itching” — it’s a journey of skin, stress, immunity, and even digestion. Ready? Let’s dive in — the Ayurvedic and scientific way! 🌾 What is Eczema? Eczema (also called Atopic Dermatitis) is a chronic skin condition that causes itchy, dry, inflamed, and sometimes cracked or oozing skin. It comes and goes in flares and can deeply affect daily life and confidence. Interactive Check-In: Have you or someone close to you experienced: ✔️ Constant itchy patches? ✔️ Redness or cracked skin behind ears, in folds, or on hands? ✔️ Sensitive, allergy-prone skin? If yes, let’s understand why it happens. 🔍 Why Does Eczema Happen? 🌿 In Ayurveda: Eczema is known as “Vicharchika”, a type of Kushta roga (skin disorder). 👉 It's mainly due to the vitiation of all three Doshas – Vata, Pitta, and Kapha – but Kapha and Pitta ar...

Fever worsens weaker organ

🌡️  Why Fever Worsens Weaker Organs ✍ By Dr. Subha Rajan, BAMS 🔬 MODERN PATHOGENESIS – SYSTEMIC TO LOCAL EFFECTS ✅ Stage 1: Invasion of Pyrogens When the body detects pathogens (bacteria, virus, fungi), they release exogenous pyrogens (like LPS – lipopolysaccharide). These activate immune cells (macrophages, monocytes), which then release endogenous pyrogens: 👉 IL-1, IL-6, TNF-alpha, interferons ✅ Stage 2: Hypothalamic Thermoregulation These pyrogens reach the hypothalamus, which resets the body’s thermostat via prostaglandin E2 (PGE2). Result: Fever (Pyrexia) – elevated body temperature to support immune defense. ✅ Stage 3: Systemic Effects Begin Increased temperature causes: ↑ Heart rate ↑ Metabolism Muscle protein breakdown ↓ Appetite (energy conservation) ↑ Cortisol secretion (stress hormone) ✅Stage 4: Targeting the Weak Spots The immune system is now hyperactive, and inflammatory mediators like cytokines travel through the bloodstream. They accumulate more in areas with: Pr...

Psoriasis

🧕🏽 Patient:  I have dry, red, scaly patches on my skin. It itches. People stare. Is it some allergy? Will it ever go away? 👩‍⚕️ Dr. Subha: "You’re not alone. What you're describing sounds like Psoriasis – and I’m here to help you understand it completely, not just treat the surface." 💛 🌿 What is Psoriasis? Psoriasis is not an allergy. It’s an immune condition. Your immune system works too hard and creates skin cells too fast. 🧠 Normally, your skin cells renew every 28–30 days. But in Psoriasis, they renew every 3–7 days! Result? Extra layers of skin pile up → red, thick, itchy, scaly patches. 🔍 Is it Contagious? ❌ No. Psoriasis is not contagious. You can’t “catch” it. You don’t get it from touching someone. But yes – it can be lifelong and comes in flares. 🌿 Let's Look Deeper – Why Does It Happen? 👩‍⚕️ “Shall we explore both the Modern and Ayurvedic views? That way, we understand your body better.” 🧬 Modern Science Says... Autoimmune disease – your immune sy...
