AIM:-

Girl child empowerment and make self reliant and strong opening of bank account and depositing certain amount of money 

AGE:-

Girl age must be less than 10 years at the time of opening the account. only two girl child per family can have benefit of the scheme (exception for twins, triplets)

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED 

. Birth certificate of the child 
. Identity proof of parents 
. Address proof of parents

AMOUNT 

Minimum rupees-1000 ( now it has been reduced to rupees -250) and maximum rupees 1,50,000 can be deposited any time during the financial year.

TOTAL DURATION 

15 years from the date of opening the account ( eg, if account is opened at 2 years of age then we can deposit money up to 16 years of age )

MATURITY DATE

21 years after the first day of opening the account 

MINIMUM LOCKING PERIODS 

11 years 

BENEFITS 

. 8.2% Interest will be given for the deposited money
. Tax exemption under 80 c section 
. Money will be used for the welfare of girl child only under these two clauses 
1. About 50% of amount can be withdrawn after girl turns 18, only for higher education or marriage purpose
2. Fully withdrawal of money is possible. only when girl turns 21 

. After attending 14 years of age girl can operate the account independently
